ORIGINS
Neema Kamaria Hanifa has a Bachelors of Science Degree from the University of New Mexico in Clinical Psychology and Evolutionary Anthropology. She is also an internationally acclaimed stylist and licensed cosmetologist, specializing in natural hair care, health and wellness. She offers training's on salon diversity, ethnic hair care and business development. She is a Certified Sisterlock consultant and Licensed Cosmetology Instructor for the State of New Mexico with over 14 years of professional Experience!
Firmly rooted for over a decade as a business owner in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Neema is a dynamic entrepreneur, life coach and counselor. Hailing from a family line of generational artists, intellects and innovators, she is also mother to a creative, independent, artistic, intelligent and charismatic teenage daughter - Hannaiyah.
Over the years, Neema has dedicated her time, efforts and resources in her enduring commitment to serve both the people within her local community and those abroad in need and in under-served populations.
Neema spent two years in China working for a local orphanage through use of cognitive development skills and touch therapy. In addition she was the children's room volunteer coordinator for Story Time, Theater and Craft Building, She was a teacher for Dalian's Yuan Guang School in which she taught English, Public Speaking and Religious Studies.
Locally, she has worked with The Refugee Well Being Project in which she advocated for families, assessing their needs and empowering them with the resources needed to to become confident participants in their communities. With an emphasis in women's studies and building resiliency in children of trauma, she has developed strategies to build programs which are rooted in mindfulness, gratitude and awareness.
Young Women Rising is a pilot program for what is soon to become a nationally recognized program of empowerment for young women. Addressing issues of culture, gender, history and beauty, this Summer Day Camp program promises rewards that will last a lifetime!
